Photography And Wine In Harmony At Morgenster Estate
Photographic exhibition enthusiasts have until 18 February to catch a glimpse of renowned photographer, Carlo Soffietti’s latest work on display at Morgenster Estate in Somerset West. The exhibition is entitled SoulScape.
The exhibition which is beautifully displayed throughout the interior of the estate’s restaurant portray Carlo’s love for nature and the subjects it represents. All shot in black and white, the works are so detailed they are almost alive. Scenes include the majestic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe as well as a lone giraffe taking a stroll through the bush in Tanzania.
Carlo spends his time between Italy and South Africa, his love for photography started when he began capturing images that caught his attention whilst travelling for work. This love for ‘pausing time’ has seen him travel and capture the inanimate landscapes of Australia, South-East Asia, and Southern Africa.
The strength of the images that describe Africa, underlined by the perfect balance of the composition, emerges from the desire, which the author experiences as a continuous challenge, to convey the emotion that the place aroused in him: each photo taken after long inspections, through dense and layered work and an exasperated search for the perfect relationship between light and shadow to capture every little detail that goes far beyond the descriptive images of the travel report.
Since 2020 he has been collaborating with the Venice Garden Foundation, for which he is carrying out a project aimed at documenting the evolution and renovation of the gardens in Venice granted to the foundation.
As the exhibition is displayed in the restaurant allow yourself time to enjoy an authentic Italian meal paired perfectly with Morgenster Estate’s award-winning wines.
