Caffè corretto is not new. The Italian word corretto corresponds to the English word ‘correct’ in the sense of ‘corrected’.

In Spain, a similar drink is known as carajillo, in Portugal is known as Café com Cheirinho (coffee with scent) and in Sweden, in France Pousse-Café or Café-Calva , Norway and Denmark as kaffekask, karsk or kaffegök.

Washed and sun-dried process.  Hand roasted passionately by Weskus Coffee Roastery, Langebaan to a medium roast optimising the fruity flavours.  You will experience a medium bodied creamy taste with sweet berry and fruity notes finished off with a lingering caramel after taste.

The Process

Get yourself a great espresso we got ours from Weskus Coffee Roastery in Langebaan (worth the trip).

From the range we chose, single Origin Tanzania, grown on the foothills of mount Kilimanjaro at an altitude between 1600 and 2500M above sea level.

That sorted the Caffé part and then for the Corretto we decided to go on a new adventure with The 4th Rabbit, South Africa’s Traditional Mezcal-style Agave Spirit, 100% Karoo Agave.

Here I quote from their tasting notes  “Velvet smooth. Honey and citrus. Gentle smoke weaves its way through soft agave and a touch of earthy spice.”  By now you should be hooked already.  Fill a shot glass with The 4th Rabbit (25ml), pour about 15ml of it into your espresso/demitasse cup and then add your espresso.  Sip gently allowing the awesome flavours to envelope your senses of taste and aromas as it slowly glides over your taste buds. For the finale, there is nearly always a little liquid or creamy foam left in your cup, this is when you add that last 10ml from your shot glass, swirl and finish the last bit of magic. Our recommendation get up and repeat.
